One night in every province, in one year
In November 2024, Cathy and I visited Vancouver, British Columbia for the Grey Cup.
Just now, November 2025, slightly less than one year later, we’ve returned from the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba. (Both great trips, but of course we were happier with the outcome of the 2024 game.)
Mixed in with some other travel, that means we have now stayed overnight for at least one night in Every Canadian Province in the past 12 Months.
So I wonder, do they just automatically send you the Order of Canada for this or do you need to fill out a form? (Prime Minister Carney was at the Grey Cup game last weekend, I should have asked him.)
For the record, to confirm this pointless achievement, from West to East, we spent at least one night in each of these provinces….
British Columbia
Vancouver, November 2024, for the 111th Grey Cup. Argos 41 Winnipeg 24!

I took the opportunity to borrow the Grey Cup.
Alberta
Calgary, October 2025, to see the Argos play (um, and lose to) the Calgary Stampeders.
These flags reminded me of the legendary SOGRA we used to see at Argos games.
Saskatchewan
Regina, October 2025, to see the Argos play (um, and lose to) the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The weather was lovely.
and I enjoyed a nice Argo Burger at Bushwakker’s.
Perhaps I should also mention that we visited Regina in June to celebrate my brother-in-law’s wedding and maybe I should have used that example so you wouldn’t think were were some kind of wacky Argos superfans or something.
Manitoba
Winnipeg, November 2025, for the 112th Grey Cup. Unfortunately, security around the trophy was a little tighter this year.
I was delighted to join the legendary Saskatchewan Roughrider Pep Band for the Grey Cup Festival. That escapade deserves its own blog post. Stand by.
Ontario
Well, yeah, we kind of live in Ontario, so we’ve spent a few nights here. but hmm, there’s also some sort of trend going on. June 2025, Argos vs. Ottawa REDBLACKS with some of our BMO Field friends.
(Also the only road game in 2025 where we saw the Argos win.)
Quebec
Montreal, June 2025. You know, there might be something to this whole superfan thing now that you mention it. Took the train and saw the Argos vs. Alouettes in a preseason matchup.
There, we met Jeff Horn, father of Argo QB3 Tucker Horn. Talk about your superfans - Jeff flew up from Lubbock, Texas to see almost every game. It was great to say hi to Jeff at all the home games and even in Calgary too. That’s good parenting right there.
New Brunswick
The beautiful north shore along Chaleur Bay in July 2024. Spent quite a bit of time down here - including at the lovely Bonaventure Inn in New Mills. Also visited exciting hotspots like Bathurst and Campbellton. And flew in and out of ZBF and YQM a few times too.
Alas, no CFL games in New Brunswick this year (But it has happened in the past! Here’s Argonotes, augmented by the Mount Allison University Pep Band in Moncton for Touchdown Atlantic in 2010.
Prince Edward Island
Charlottetown, August 2025. Ice cream hankering satisfied. One night in a charming cottage. Must come back.
Nova Scotia
Sydney, August 2025. An excursion to see the Barra MacNeils perform. We’ve seen this fantastic group dozens of times in Ontario but this was a chance to see the pride of Sydney Mines in their native habitat!
Newfoundland
Corner Brook, August 2025. Visiting my dear Uncle Martin (and cousin Greg.) Canada’s most beautiful province. Captain Cook, also seen here, was on to something.
now what
Hmm. Nunavut, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories are still out there… perhaps a goal for 2026. Hey, Canadian Football League – how about a Touchdown Arctic game?
